Starting off the weekend well.

It's a homework Sunday for me. Thankfully, I started off the weekend well as I spent Friday enjoying some friends play in a local coffee shop. Lot of friends from school came out to support them, we were pretty close to filling the entire shop! It was a really fun night, some of us even got homework done. I love having such good friends! And knowing talented musicians!

Did your weekend include a relaxing night out?

Enjoy!

Monday Music.

I'm enjoying a short term break right now, and what better time to find new music? And catch up on homework of course. As I was browsing Noisetrade, I came across Alexa Woodward. Here's a review of the album, and a link to get it for yourself!

For fans of: Ingrid Michaelson, Regina Spektor, Katie Herzig, Brooke Waggoner, The Civil Wars

Features of album: cello, banjo, 3-part beautiful harmonies, ethereal synth

Be warned: Many of the songs do sound similar, but it creates a really consistent feel, great for background music while doing homework.

Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Enjoy!

Music for you!

New music for a new year! Check out Paper Routes, free album download on noise trade for you!

I'm making my new years resolution list today! I actually haven't made one in years. But, the blogging world tells me it's the thing to do! And I'm kind of excited to have yearly goals!

Enjoy!

On Being a Music Teacher.

Have I told you I am a piano teacher? Yes, it's true. Among being a full-time student, being a Residence Assistant, taking violin lessons, being in drama production, leading a small group at my church, being a girlfriend, doing homework...

and all the rest of life,

somehow I teach six students! I actually love it a whole lot. When I began taking piano lessons years and years ago, I never, ever thought I would be teaching it. Thanks to my fantastic piano teacher, who encouraged me to pursue it, I began teaching out of my parents house, and now teach here at school, and am a 3 years veteran of piano teaching (okay..veteran... a stretch)! I don't have all my piano education, and actually, there are so many more talented piano players here at school that often I feel inadequate! But I know that I love it, and my students continue to learn and improve and that makes me happy.

Music education. I think it's such a neat thing!

Don't do this to your piano, okay?

Love your piano. This girl wants to keep it near her very often.

You could step all over this piano.

You could eat this piano.

Music is wonderful. Find a space to learn, somewhere like this one.

So inspirational!

By the way, as of today, I have learnt 5 songs on the violin! Learning a new instrument is fun!

Enjoy!

A Bunch of Friday things.

This is a bit of a jumble of a post. You've been fairly warned.

I liked this when I saw it. Because it is very true for me. Except for the 'many things' part. I tolerate quite a bit actually. On second thought, it's not very true. Just sort of true.

It's the weekend! I get to work..and see friends I haven't seen in a while! What are your weekend plans? My family is off at a cabin this week, and I've been stuck at home. Wouldn't it be fun to take a little weekend trip in this?

And TWO blog news items.

1. I will be guest posting on Mr. Taylor and His Lady in a few weeks! I'm just a tad bit excited.
2. I am going to be part of a blog tour on Elegant Musings next week! Along with lots of other bloggers, I will be sharing a collection of mine!

Here is a song for you. Though called White Winter Hymnal, Fleet Foxes will always remind me of this summer.

It's a good day! A very good, hot, summery day.

Enjoy!

June Lovelies.

It is time for June Lovelies!
I would like to share three categories of June lovelies: music, fashion and photos.

Music.

So this is a little embarrassing. I want to share this song I found with you, so I took a picture of the itunes card i found it on. And I realize I look pretty much the exact same as yesterday (minus the super sweet glasses!)...so just wanted to clear up a few things.

1. I do not sit on my couch all the time. I simply have left my computer here the last while.

2. This is my only shirt where I have two in the same colour. And it is a VERY rare occurrence for me to wear it one day after wearing the other. It bothers me, it really does. My goodness, I hope I display fashion sense on a post sometime soon! This is becoming appalling.

Now I feel better! So check out the song Beautiful Trash feat. Megan Washington, by Lanu! I like it.

Did anyone else pick up this freebie of a song a while back at Starbucks? This week, it's the song Calgary by Bon Iver! So get on down to your local Starbucks and get a free song! (They didn't pay me to say this. I only take a pay cheque for creating beverages, I promise!)

Fashion.

I have been really into the lace dress lately! Here's a few photos of ones I wouldn't mind picking up somewhere.

Aren't they lovely? The last one is from Zara and on sale! But it's found via the UK Zara. I can't find it on the Canadian one!

Photos.

Perfect. That is all.

Enjoy!

Awkward and Awesome Thursday.

Thursday comes around again. Ah, thursday. I think customers just know thursdays are super busy and choose to be super high maintenance for us on thursdays! Yes we have to charge 50c. Even if you're only getting one pump of syrup!!

Awkward:
-My former doctor coming into Starbucks all the time. She doesn't remember me, which is fine. But somehow I always feel like I should say something. But really, what would I say, "Hey! So I used to be your patient, but now I go to a different doctor!" Nope. Probably best to leave it as is.
-I parallel parked today. Or tried to. Always a little awkward when you're trying to get into a spot, but there is tons of traffic whizzing by. I know they're watching me fail at parking. I know it.

Awesome:
-New CD in my possession! Fleet Foxes. Have you heard them? Please do so here.
-New Glasses almost in my possession! I will try and post some photos once I get them. They're super fun!
-Going for coffee (actually tea..cause they didnt have soy milk or ice for a beverage) with my good friend, Erin (this was always on the awesome list. No matter what Erin says).
-A new playlist on my Ipod. I found a bunch of songs I didn't know I had in my itunes, and put them all together on a sweet playlist. Hey! I'll share some of it with you! Why not?

Lull - Andrew Bird
Ivy and Gold - Bombay Bicycle Club
The Fight - Sia (listen past the first 20 seconds..it creeped me out, so i never listened past that point for quite some time!)
C'est la mort - The Civil Wars
Gobbledigook - Sigur Ros
Halflight- The Meligrove Band (this is the live version..couldn't find the non-live version)
New Heights - A Fine Frenzy

Hope you can find some new music you enjoy!

And a photo just for you. I am into these fantasy garden spaces lately. If only, right?

Enjoy!
