Tomorrow, my school is promoting a day without screens. Taking notes on paper instead of laptops is encourages, turning off your phone, ignoring those facebook and twitter notifications, and pulling out the encyclopedias instead of the google search bar. All of the things above are fantastic, useful tools, but I don't see it as a horrible thing to take a break from all of it for a day. Sure, sometimes you get so busy and forget to check facebook or read up on as many blogs as you'd like, but could you intentionally not use screens for a day? I'm not sure how far I'll take it, but it's interesting to think about. What could you give up? Do you NEED it all? Or just really enjoy the conveniences?

  1. Hmmm. Seems a little coincidental that the powers been out for the past hour and a half. Did your college suggest this for our whole town, not just the campus?not a bad idea but I also haven't been able to do laundry, sew, or make bread as I intended today. Oh well- I guess I'll just curl up with a book! Don't mind if I do.
