Happy Holidays!

Happy New Year! It's been a whirlwind last few weeks, and it makes me so excited for 2013. 2012 was a strange year. Lots of hard family stuff, lots of transitions, and lots of joy too. I have really enjoyed having this space to express creativity and share inspiration. I can't wait to see what the new year brings with this creative place and all that comes with it. What would you like to see on Summer Sets In?

My holidays started off with a wonderful question from Jordon. Yes, 2013 makes me a wife!

We got to do some family bowling with my family, and Jordon and I took a trip to visit his family. We loved touring antique shops!

My mom and I enjoyed some popcorn traditions.

It was a very Merry Christmas! We were so happy to be with lots of family.
What did your holidays look like? Family events? Christmas baking? Craft nights? Or perhaps you are engaged as well?!

Enjoy!
and Happy New Year!

Christmas Gift Guide {Part 3}

This past weekend I spent running from work to another job, selling mittens with mom! She makes beautiful mittens out of felted wool sweaters and sells them locally, as well as online on Etsy

It was an extremely successful weekend. We sold mounds of mittens and the table was left nearly empty!

We look a little alike, wouldn't you say?

It was a very lovely venue and there were so many cute booths! I could have bought everything there.

Needless to say, this is the perfect Christmas gift! Over 130 people will be thinking so this Christmas, with a new pair of mittens! If you're looking to buy a pair, check out her Etsy shop. Depending on where you are, there is a possibility of getting them in time for Christmas.
 But, be sure to bookmark it for next year!

If you're feeling lucky, like her facebook page, she's giving away a free pair of mittens if she reaches 200 'likes' by the end of December!

Enjoy!

Christmas Gift Guide {Part 2}

Christmas is coming! And I couldn't be more excited. Lots of family time, christmas carols, and cozy evenings - looking forward to it all!

Still shopping? Here's some more ideas that will cater to your stomach, or someone else's!

Sometimes, the perfect gift is in your fantastic cooking skills.

Give someone a night to themselves, with you as the chef! Probably best for someone you know quite well. Or it could get a tad uncomfortable, staggering around an unknown kitchen.

Know someone with a sweet tooth?
Give them a sweet, simple gift of an apple with as much caramel as they desire!

Delicious.

For those who don't like to bake, but would love the smell of fresh baking in their home, give them the gift of ease! Create some beautiful mixes with instructions to add wet ingredients on the back.

Easy as pie! Or muffins.

Any other food gift ideas?

Christmas Gift Guide {Part 1}

Happy December!
My absence is only because I have been holiday cucooning. Obviously.

This year, I seem to keep thinking of more gifts I would like to get those around me! Somehow they keep adding up. Good thing I've already started. But if you haven't, don't fret!
Here is Summer Sets In Holiday gift guide: Part One!

Post it notes can be tacky...who am I kidding, i LOVE using sticky notes. anywhere. anytime.
But for those who don't share my feelings for the ultimate organizer, here's a more fashion forward option. Wear your sticky notes, and never forget anything again!

Find it on amazon for less than $20.

This gift is for the photographer in your life. Or if you're the photographer, recycle an old lens!

A little silly, some might think, but it might just make someone's Christmas morning.

Need to send a gift to someone far away? Carve them a Christmas postcard!

Buy it here.

Hope that helps with your Christmas shopping! Where do you like to buy gifts?

Enjoy!

Today.

Today I am savouring my day off. Like a good book. Like one of those last summer weather kind of days. Like the last bite of a chewy brownie. It's being savoured.

Brunch with someone handsome, wandered Christmas aisles in the stores, went for a relaxing massage, and a pot full of apple cider while catching early holiday cheer with my roommates. Could I ask for anything more? So thankful for such a marvellous day.

We may be decorating a tad early. THOUGH, I'm Canadian, so thanksgiving has already happened. What else is there, really? We're not crazy...Our rationale is that we all go home for Christmas, we have to enjoy our house decorated for a while at least!

What's your day to decorate for Christmas? When is too early?

Enjoy!

Introducing...

I am SO excited about my new camera purchase. Now, I am not a photographer, (and by the way, must everyone who owns a DSLR camera claim to be a photographer? Really.) but I needed something to capture inspiration, and my photographer sister helped me pick out the Canon Powershot G12! I have had it less than 24 hours and I would totally recommend it, from what I know so far.

It's a great compact point and shoot camera, but also gives the opportunity to change settings to make your photos that much better. I've been playing around a bit. I'm still learning! Here's some scenes from today.

A fresh fallen snow made everything look crisp this morning!

Scenes from a delicious brunch with my family.

I'm learning a little about changing aperture and shutter speed. Something new for me! It's a lot of fun. It's a good day! A new camera, and in the middle of writing this post, my boxing day order from Forever 21 arrived! Boxing day in the mall? Nope. For my family, we did lots of online shopping. So much more fun! The anticipation makes the clothes that much more wanted. What a good day!

Enjoy!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas (a day late, but the Christmas tree is still up)!

There is hope for this blog and its poor photos. Thanks to Christmas money, I will be purchasing a Canon G12 camera this week! So very excited!

How was your Christmas?

Enjoy!

I'll be Home for Christmas {2}

I'm home! I'm home for Christmas, and oh it feels so nice! Exams are done. Papers are handed in, and my third semester of Bible college is finished. The other day I thought about how quick it's flying by, but other days it feels like I've been there a lifetime! I'm enjoying my second year, but very excited for the next stages of life as well.

In other news, I think my camera broke. It won't take pictures. Now, if you've seen my photos before, you'll know it didn't produce top notch snaps, but it was very good to me, for multiple years. That's put me at quite a loss, being a poor college student and a blogger. It's a rough life I tell you (anyone seen those first world problem videos? funny). Good ol' photo booth delivers today.

I love my family's Christmas tree. We are one of those families that gets a REAL Christmas tree. I am so thankful for it every year. That smell, the way it's a different shape and height every year. So unique! I'm so happy to be home, sitting around the Christmas tree. I wrapped some gifts today, drank a delicious chai tea latte made by Jordon, then he showed me that the mandolin is tuned the same as a violin, so I attempted it. Such a lovely day!

Christmas is coming! and I finally get to focus on it!

Hooray!

Enjoy!
