Monday Monday.

Happy Monday! Here's to a splendid week.

Here are a few pretty things to bring you joy.

This mug was part of Jordon's Christmas present that I need to fix. I did the sharpie + bake method, but it still seems to rub off on the thin sharpie sections. Any ideas? Should I try baking it again? Or try an actual porcelain pen?

I got these lovely earrings in my stockings from Whim
{By the way, I considered actually fixing my wild hair for this picture, but really, this is quite normal. My hair is fine and falls out of it's place way too often. You now know my secret}

A cute camera bag I picked up while thrifting. I'm considering using it as a purse. Too boxy, or could it work?

What's inspiring you this week?

A Thrify Girl's Fairytale

There once was a girl with sparse amounts of financial supplements. She loved to thrift, and after a week of finding unreal deals, such as $1 books at Borders, navy pencil skirts for $2.25, and dresses at the outlets for $5, she was plum out of money.

Except for a crisp $20 bill that sat next to a worn $1 bill in her wallet. She had been saving $21 for her favourite store, forever21. At times, she had considered parting ways with this $21. After all, she had found such fantastic deals, and how could she leave such treasured items without a home? But she refrained, and held out for her favourite store.

She knew she may not find anything at forever21, but she maintained hope. And it was worth it! She flitted through the store, marvelling at the floral prints, the smocked styles, and the $8 deals!

Then, there it was. A set of pretty little earrings, just waiting for a home! And though there was a pair missing, was it worth it for less than $3? Yes, she decided! Yes, these earrings would not be left lonely any longer!

And so, along with a beautiful nautical cardigan, she purchased them! Holding onto that $21 was worth it!

Enjoy!

A Crafting Hunt -Part Two

The Garage Sale Crafting Hunt was a success!

I recorded at least 12 different garage sales in my new favourite little blue notebook:

but we found lots of other ones I hadn't recorded along the way as well.

I found a lovely vintage looking suitcase! It does smell a little musty, but thankfully, it's summer, so I've been letting it air out a bit outside, and it seems to have helped.

At the first garage sale we stopped at, we found some really neat looking light switch covers. I think they have extreme potential. I might paint them, I might not. I think the one that has the white showing, I will paint, but maybe not the others.

I found this really neat mirror, that i found out wasn't actually for sale, but she let me purchase it anyway!

Jordon found this 70's looking clock, and an Elton John record. Underneath that, there is a frame that I'm going to use to make a neat jewelry holder!

Here's the Threadbanger video that I got the idea for the jewelry holder from. I think this frame will work perfectly!

Enjoy!

Necklaces, necklaces, where for art thou?

An adorment of loveliness. An accent to a perfectly put together outfit. A plethora of be-jewled accentuation. What am I talking about? Jewelry, or in fact, necklaces. I have come to love necklaces in the past while. For quite some time, I will admit, I was addicted to the freeing loose personality of scarves. It seems, as time goes on, I still adore scarves, but my scarf season has started to dwindle off, and my necklace season is in full swing. (And no, my necklaces don't always swing, they're usually quite static, it's simply an expression).

So, as of late, my season of necklaces has been encouraged by days of sitting around, my imagination quite an avid participant in this adventure. I have taken inspiration from my sister, who also creates necklaces, and decided to create some for myself. Taking charms from this place and that, from on-sale earrings, to specialty bead stores, to creating some of my own.

And now, ladies and gentleman, presenting, Kristen's attempt at jewelry!

I found this ring at a vintage clothing store in Victoria, but it was too big for my finger, (i was careless when i bought it and had tried it on super quickly), so why not wear it on a necklace?

And my latest attempt at jewelry...
