Lull.

Source: johngranen.com via Kristen on Pinterest

Snow is lingering. Exams are lingering. It seems the joy of spring is just out of grasp! But it's coming! I know it is. The blog lull won't be for long, I can see lots of creative inspiration coming, it's just not quite within reach yet!

New sights of new cities are coming. Green grass is coming (I think?). COLOUR in the outdoors is coming. Spring cleaning is coming! Wedding planning (a break was nice) is coming. Bare legs in dresses are coming. Seeing my sisters - it's coming! Gardening is coming. Creative inspiration - oh, it better come!

Hey spring, hurry up? You'd be a big help to the creative side of me.

Inspiring the Day {Part 2}

Wedding planning is:
feasting on colours and inspiration.
planning the very best day.
distracting from homework and work.
so far more fun than stressful.

Monday Monday.

Happy Monday! Here's to a splendid week.

Here are a few pretty things to bring you joy.

This mug was part of Jordon's Christmas present that I need to fix. I did the sharpie + bake method, but it still seems to rub off on the thin sharpie sections. Any ideas? Should I try baking it again? Or try an actual porcelain pen?

I got these lovely earrings in my stockings from Whim
{By the way, I considered actually fixing my wild hair for this picture, but really, this is quite normal. My hair is fine and falls out of it's place way too often. You now know my secret}

A cute camera bag I picked up while thrifting. I'm considering using it as a purse. Too boxy, or could it work?

What's inspiring you this week?

Inspiring the Day {Part 1...of many}

It's halfway through January? Where did time go? I won't argue though, I'm ready for warmer weather. When you experience snow 6+ months a year, you get to that point, often happens in January. It's time for some green grass! Where are you in the world? Is it warm? Send some warmth, please.

I have been passing those long winter month by doing lots of wedding planning! Cause of this fine piece of jewelry!

Anyone else have that giant hand problem?

This was the method of proposal on that warm December day. It sits around my house, and I get to relive the moment anytime I want! Did you know you can order a reel with whatever photos you want? It's true. See it here.

Now that we have most of the big stuff booked (or almost booked. Just looked at a to-do list...), the fun part is underway! Here is a little colour inspiration board. By the magic of paint chips (and many wedding planning apps), we can begin to see the day! It's going to be wonderful, and I am so excited that I get to plan it with my dearest friend and love. And then we get to share the most special day under God with our dearest friends and family! Weddings are just the most wonderful things.

Peruse.

I was a good blogger for a while hey? It's probably back to once a week, friends. I feel busy as a bee! My assignments for my class seem to have come all at once! I love it though. Who knew school could be this enjoyable?

I came across Thrive furniture via A Beautiful Mess. I love it all! If only they shipped to Canada. Then i would save up money for 10 years... and buy one piece.

When I saw this cute little coffee grinder, I nearly splurged on it! Then came to my senses and dreamt about it instead.

If I was a business lady, I would have my business meetings here every day. Just saying.

Can you tell which colours I love? Ha. I'm so subtle. Whoops!

This week contains lots of evening shifts (which I'm learning to love!), snowfall upon snowfall, and organization. What's your week like?

Enjoy!

Transitioning seasons.

Sometimes one must endure the inside light, and take indoor photos. It's march, and it's been snowing intermittently for days! I'm longing for spring.

I figured out why I love the colour mustard so much. It's because when I was younger, I was told I can't wear yellow. The solution in my mind: wear mustard.

awkward neck kink.

The outfit was quite busy with patterns and colours, so I paired it with simple gold earrings.

I got the inspiration for this outfit here.

What's your transition outfit for winter to spring?

Yellow.

 Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you,

Everything you do,
They were all yellow.

I came along,
I wrote a song for you.

And all the things you do,
And it was called yellow.

For the Lord your God is living among you.
He is a mighty saviour.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.

Weekly Inspiration.

The internet has been down at school. I'll try not to hold it against anyone. I'm in a theatre production this weekend! Wish me luck! Here's some weekly inspiration.

On Being a Music Teacher.

Have I told you I am a piano teacher? Yes, it's true. Among being a full-time student, being a Residence Assistant, taking violin lessons, being in drama production, leading a small group at my church, being a girlfriend, doing homework...

and all the rest of life,

somehow I teach six students! I actually love it a whole lot. When I began taking piano lessons years and years ago, I never, ever thought I would be teaching it. Thanks to my fantastic piano teacher, who encouraged me to pursue it, I began teaching out of my parents house, and now teach here at school, and am a 3 years veteran of piano teaching (okay..veteran... a stretch)! I don't have all my piano education, and actually, there are so many more talented piano players here at school that often I feel inadequate! But I know that I love it, and my students continue to learn and improve and that makes me happy.

Music education. I think it's such a neat thing!

Don't do this to your piano, okay?

Love your piano. This girl wants to keep it near her very often.

You could step all over this piano.

You could eat this piano.

Music is wonderful. Find a space to learn, somewhere like this one.

So inspirational!

By the way, as of today, I have learnt 5 songs on the violin! Learning a new instrument is fun!

Enjoy!

Thursday.

Yes, you heard right. There is nothing awkward about this Thursday. I hope this idea isn't too off the wall for you.

Would you like to know what's awesome about today? Of course you would! Here are four things that made my day lovely.

1. I actually felt like cleaning today. Was successful till I started blogging.

2. I had the day off work. Having a thursday off is fantastic! I have to close on Canada Day tomorrow, but who cares?

3. I won a giveaway on Dear Prudence! And didn't even realize it. I won like half a month ago! This is my first win of a giveaway on a blog, so I'm super excited! I get to sport some neat Bobby Pins from Sea of Blooming Dreams Etsy shop. I'll show them as soon as I get them!

4. I get to attend a play tonight with my family.

5. I started my crafty-lady book. I'm pretty sure everyone should have a crafty-lady book. My boyfriend brought me back this book from when he was in Boston last week. It's from Urban Outfitters. Last year, he also got me these book ends. He's pretty neat.

Take a look inside, it's the theme words for my blog! I thought it was fitting.

Now to fill the rest of the pages with crafty ideas! I'm so excited! I will make check boxes so I can check off the projects as I finish them. Isn't checking off a list satisfying?

6. Here's what I read during my spare time this week. Real Simple, as well as ReadyMade are magazines that most crafty ladies love.

Do you have a crafty-lady idea book? Or a favourite inspirational magazine?

Now, you tell me, what is awkward about this thursday? Nothing! It's fantastic!

Enjoy!

Today's Fun Finds.

Happy May! Have you found anything particularly beautiful on Etsy lately? I have.

A cute buttery yellow sun dress would brighten my day! I really don't think I look good in yellow though.

My favourite colour in a dress! Oh how lovely!

I think hats like this should still be worn on a day to day basis!

Here's my daily photo find. A very whimsical dinner scene! Perhaps I'll make this sharing of a photo from pinterest a habit.

Fun Ideas, Not Enough Ambition.

Lately, I've had lots of really great crafty ideas, but not nearly enough ambition. Though I am nearly finished my first skirt! (will be posted soon. Preview: It's grey, vintage, and i probably will even wear it!) I spent the majority of the week working on it. I have come across a lot of really fun ideas for more projects, but I'm not sure I'll actually get around to them. I'll share them, perhaps someone else can attempt the things I am too un-motivated to do!

I got a new issue of my favourite magazine, ReadyMade, today. What a joy it is to receive a magazine postmarked with your name, all full of crafty ideas! I literally sat there for an hour, drinking chai tea with cinnamon dolce syrup, just browsing through those glossy, filled-with-crafty-joy pages. One of the neatest things I found was a planter made out of light-switch and outlet covers!
See this neat project here.

Or if you're looking for something a little more on the cool side (pun very intended), and just love puzzling situations, why not create a puzzle with jello, ice or popsicles? Yes, someone came up with the idea of making tetris-shaped ice cube trays on this DIY site. It caught my eye. Or should i say my mind. And who doesn't love Tetris? (or is that just me?)
See the fun in ice cube trays here.

I'm also really into necklace making. (previous posts may slightly hint at this truth) I found a necklace I LOVE! It would embody the very existence of myself! well, maybe not. But it does portray something I really enjoy -Tea! I'm thinking if I can find some teapot charms, I may be able to attempt this necklace myself, when i acquire the ambition of course.
See the original here. (called 'tea time long necklace'. about half way down the page, but there are some pretty neat other jewelry pieces as well)

Perhaps I will discover the secret source of ambition sometime soon!

Enjoy!

New from Old Buttons

Inspiration seems to come from many things. Incredibly artsy sisters, crafty websites, Ready Made magazine...but sometimes, when you just can't fall asleep from all these creative things floating around in your head, ideas come at one in the morning, and you have to turn on your light, and write them down because they seem so exciting!

Then you wake up.

Those ideas don't seem to be all that incredible anymore, but, with a day off, why not try them anyway? Here's another attempt at buttons and brads re done into something a little more colorful!

The Supplies:
-any size of brad
-an old, not so pretty button
-a piece of cotton
-a small square of ribbon or fabric

Trim off anything sticking out on the other side of the button, then fasten the brad to the back side of it(I used hot glue, i'm sure there's something better though)

Fasten the piece of cotton on top of the button, then start wrapping and gluing the ribbon or fabric square around it. I folded it over and glued it circle style. Trim off any excess fabric as needed.

The finished projects! i found thinner sheer fabric (the green) worked better than thick ribbon (the polka-dotted)

My favorite outcome of the project!

Enjoy!
