November Lovelies

It's the last day of November, or how we've known it at college, Movember. Oh my, you should see those male furry faces. Yuck. But tomorrow is December! This month flew by for me. Now my calendar for December is filling up with Christmas gift exchanges, exams, and finishing off a semester. November is a transition month, from those lovely fall colours to the holiday season! Here are my favourites of November.

1. Holiday Dress

If I could have a fancy Christmas party to go every weekend, I would not be complaining. Well, that's what I say anyway. I'm sure I would get a tad tired of them after a while. Here's what I would wear!

2. Interesting Home Ideas (nothing to do with November...at all)

Sometimes I think, what will my future home look like? And of course I have a million crafty ideas and dreams, and there are some wild ideas that are so fantastic out there. Here are a few.

3. Christmas Music!

Here is come music I need this holiday season!

She and Him Christmas.

Michael Buble Christmas.

Best of Amy Grant Christmas! The fact that she made more than one Christmas album speaks volumes. Yes, Amy Grant, I have spent Christmas with you since before I can remember. Everyone needs this album.

That wraps up November! Lack of outfit posts cause it's cold and wintry, and lack of creative projects cause homework has been excessive! What has your November been like?

Enjoy!

October Lovelies

I've started to see Christmas pins on pinterest already! The rule in our house was always, no christmas music until November 1st. So when searching for my favourites of October, I'm thinking not everyone has this rule! My goodness, I'm still in pumpkin mode!

My favourites of October are kind of random, but that's okay. It's been a crazy week! Sparse posting has been very evident, hopefully I'll improve!

1. Spaces

Isn't this chair great? I just want to sit in it and read a good book! And, it's in my favourite colour too!

I love the effect with the ends of the wooden logs. Naturally art.

2. Music

If you haven't heard Feist's new album yet, you probably should. It's a lovely collection of talent! My favourites (as of today) are Commotion and The Bad in Each Other.

Another one of my all-time favourites came out with a new album this week too! Thank you Coldplay! I can't say it's my favourite album yet, but I do like Paradise, and Charlie Brown.

3. Fashion

I love a good pair of boots and a lovely fall-coloured scarf!

I know I've mentioned this before, but I LOVE mustard for fall. I wear my mustard cardigan pretty much all the time. And belts. Ah, belts. Me and belts are quite close as well.

So what are your favourites of October? I love cozy places, cozy music, and cozy outfits. October is a cozy month in my mind. And there is no snow on the ground! I have really been enjoying the fall colours outside. Once November hits, then the snow can come with my consent!

Enjoy!

September Lovelies

I rarely post twice in a day, but today I actually have time, so why not? I'm spending my day doing laundry and reading textbooks..who am I kidding. Reading is not happening this afternoon. I have so many blog posts to read, and getting back from my trip, I am finding it incredibly hard to get back into schoolwork. And besides that, laundry and blogging really just go hand in hand anyway.

It's also the last day of September, and I haven't even posted my favourites of September! These are some of my favourite posts to do. It shows how busy I've been I suppose.

Here are my favourites of September!

1. Autumn Looks

This woman knows how to look at autumn head on.

These colours are beautiful choices for fall, don't you think?

2. Music

Heard of Jenny & Tyler? Well, now you have! Duets are beautiful, and these two do it well. Get a free 30-song fall playlist that includes this talented duet, here.

I love She & Him as well. I recommend you buy all their songs on itunes. If you're rich. Or if you're not.

3. Inspiration

To me, this is better than Santa coming out of your fireplace.

Truly beautiful.

You know me. I love a good bike. And through the crunchy leaves? Love that sound!

Tomorrow I'm going to take some autumn pictures with Jordon! Just for fun. I hope they turn out well. And hey, If you're looking for something free, I know where to get a super nice flat iron! Stop by Rachel's blog here to enter to win.

Enjoy!

August Lovelies.

Ah August. You greet me with mysterious weather and shorter days. Doesn't it feel like the days suddenly got super short? I went outside at 8:30 last night, and it was pretty much dark already. What is the deal, sun?

Here are my favourites as of lately.

1. Blogs

Looking for some blogs to read? Here are a few (of many) I read lately.

The Ginger Diaries: fashion and travels from a lovely lady in Belgium.
The Daybook: laughs and fashion all bundled up into one.
Three For the Road: a fashionable mom with a cute little boy and another on the way.
Oh Renee Design: a fashionable lady who enjoys vintage finds. kindred spirits!
Smile and Wave and A Beautiful Mess: two of the Red Velvet girls. Vintage finds at their best!

2. Back to school clothes.

I already posted my list of what I want in my fall wishlist post, but of course, I found more!

This dress at Threadcase. the prettiest I have ever seen (this week)!
This navy blazer. it could go with so many outfits!
This cute nautical bag. Forever21 delivers!

3. Fall-inspired Food

Just because I am currently hungry (eating lunch at 11am is not my favourite. Messes me up), here is some delicious looking food. I know...it is still summer, but I love anything pumpkin! I had somebody today ask if we had the Pumpkin Spice syrup yet. I'm not the only one thinking ahead!

I am trying to enjoy the last while of summer, though it is unusually windy and moody weather today (poured, was sunny, and now is cloudy again). Tell me, what does your August entail? Holidays? Work? Sunshine? Rain?

Enjoy!

July Lovelies

What does July bring to mind for you?

July reminds me of summer festivals, summer food, and summer past-times.

Festivals.

Near my home, there are quite a few summer festivals. Lots of music, food and fun at the river. There aren't a whole lot of carnivals though. Here is a dreamy picture of a cute little family at a fair I would love to be at right now.

Food.

So I've been cooking a bit this week, and am being brave and sharing tonight's meal that I created, with you. Two things you should know:

1. I never cook. So this obviously won't be an elaborate creation!
2. I don't eat tons, and I was cooking only for myself (plus leftovers for tomorrows lunch).

Spicy Summer Pasta Dish for One.

2 cups pasta
1/2-3/4 cup finely diced tomatoes (fresh or canned)
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1/2 tsp. minced garlic or 1 clove garlic
A little oregano
Pinch of Cayenne Pepper (I used flakes)
Italian Sausage (so i didn't use this, but when I was eating it, I was thinking it would taste so good in this dish!)
Smoked Gouda Cheese (others probably work, but this tastes super good in it!) and Oregano for garnish

1. Cook up the pasta.
2. On Medium heat, heat up that olive oil and garlic, add the tomatoes. Let it all simmer together, one happy little Italian family.
3. I suppose you should probably cook the sausage at some point (I didn't, but you should!)
4. Add the Cayenne and Oregano.
5. Spoon the sauce and sauce-age (ha) onto the pasta and top with some Smoked Gouda and a dash of oregano to make it look pretty enough to eat..then do so.

If you are brave enough to try my made-up recipe out, add some new things, and let me know what they are! I would love to hear how much better you can make it. That might be a challenge. Oh my goodness. Just came up with a fantastic future post idea relating to that. More to come on that subject I'm sure.

Past-Times.

Summer brings lots of things in my family's backyard. Here's a couple.

Gardens. My mom has a large garden that she tends to, along with lots of pots of flowers. (21 on our back deck alone..I am taking care of them this week, I don't make it a habit to count otherwise). Check out this neat garden in an old palette!

Croquet. but my sisters and I don't play in white pants like these ladies and gents.

What does July bring for you?

Enjoy!

June Lovelies.

It is time for June Lovelies!
I would like to share three categories of June lovelies: music, fashion and photos.

Music.

So this is a little embarrassing. I want to share this song I found with you, so I took a picture of the itunes card i found it on. And I realize I look pretty much the exact same as yesterday (minus the super sweet glasses!)...so just wanted to clear up a few things.

1. I do not sit on my couch all the time. I simply have left my computer here the last while.

2. This is my only shirt where I have two in the same colour. And it is a VERY rare occurrence for me to wear it one day after wearing the other. It bothers me, it really does. My goodness, I hope I display fashion sense on a post sometime soon! This is becoming appalling.

Now I feel better! So check out the song Beautiful Trash feat. Megan Washington, by Lanu! I like it.

Did anyone else pick up this freebie of a song a while back at Starbucks? This week, it's the song Calgary by Bon Iver! So get on down to your local Starbucks and get a free song! (They didn't pay me to say this. I only take a pay cheque for creating beverages, I promise!)

Fashion.

I have been really into the lace dress lately! Here's a few photos of ones I wouldn't mind picking up somewhere.

Aren't they lovely? The last one is from Zara and on sale! But it's found via the UK Zara. I can't find it on the Canadian one!

Photos.

Perfect. That is all.

Enjoy!

May Lovelies

I love blogs that have regular 'feature' posts. and i love lists. So why don't I try it out? Every month, I am going to (well, I say this now. I'll see how often it actually happens) have a "Lovelies" post. I happen to think a lot of things are lovely. And I love sharing them! This is basically the idea I base my blog around, but the "Lovelies" posts will be a bit different than regular posts. They will have all sorts of links for you to browse through, not just what I'm up to. Where else to get inspiration from but other crafty people? Hopefully you'll be able to find some neat Etsy shops, pretty blogs, and doable DIY projects from the links!

And so, here we are! the Lovelies posts have begun!

Lovely Number One:

I love the movie Julie and Julia. Of course, my mom knew more about Julia Child than I did, but i think Julia's character, played by Meryl Streep, (one of the world's best actresses I'm sure) is quite entertaining! But did you know people blog about following more than just a cookbook? It's true. Gertie, a self-described 'sewing enthusiast' from New York started her blog committed to working through a Vogue vintage sewing book. I love this concept! See the entire journey on her blog.

Lovely Number Two:

I love shopping. I love having options to wear. And I love re-creating outfits out of pieces I already own. But I really love getting new clothes. I found a neat clothing company called Spotted Moth. (found through here via here. Sometimes reading blogs takes you on rabbit trails. I've accepted it) Here are a few of my favourite items from Spotted Moth. I accept gift cards or cash.

found here.

And not even too pricey either. Bonus points in my books.

Lovely Number Three:

I look at a lot of blogs. And i mean A LOT. It's hard to keep track of them all, but the one I look at most regularly is Smile and Wave. I love Rachel's style, vintage, yet so fresh. Her house tour is pretty neat. I loved it anyway.

There we have it! May lovelies.

Enjoy!
