Giving Thanks.

Happy thanksgiving! to all my Canadian friends. And my American ones too, though you get to celebrate in a few weeks! I have been given so much, and am so glad I have so much to give back. God is gracious, and I am glad i have such wonderful family to spend my weekend with!

One thing I'm thankful for is shoes! I know there are a lot of people in the world that don't even have one pair of shoes to call their own, and I have MANY shoes. I bought a couple pairs of Toms last year, and they lasted me the year, but I kind of wanted to prolong their life. You can see my last patch-job here

They're looking pretty sad, hey? Yuck.

So, I cut up some burlap (measuring very accurately by holding it up and looking to see if it fit), and seam-ripped the 'Toms' badge off the back of my shoes, and re-sewed it onto the burlap. I then just did a finishing stitch around the edge.

Alright, now this is the step that any seamstresses out there will gasp at. To attach the burlap...I used...hot glue. I know, I know, probably not the best option. But, the shoes were going in the garbage if they weren't fixed! For the front patch, I basically just glued as I went. Improv re-do!

And there we go! Wear-able Toms yet again! If you have any questions, comment or email me!

A nice craft project to do at home on my thanksgiving break. I'm back at school now, and though I caught up on a lot of sleep, I still feel so tired! I was too used to minimal hours of sleep that I couldn't handle a good night's sleep! I spent the rest of my weekend with family, eating lots of turkey, and watching lots of Project Runway. Such a great show! Don't tell me what's currently, as I was catching up online, and haven't quite got up to speed yet!

What are you thankful for? Be it a thanksgiving weekend for you or not.

Enjoy!

$12.50.

My trusty macbook is in for some care. I've been feeling a little lost without it. Ah well, the blog must go on! Using my parents PC (blech).

Here's my super inexpensive outfit I wore the other day. Nothing too special, but I happen to like it.

Dress: Roxy outlet, (of all places!) $5, on sale. Cardigan: secondhand, from my sister. Leggings: Bluenotes, $5

Shoes: Toms, $60 (This price also purchased a pair of shoes for a child in need, so I consider this inexpensive as well)

Necklace: handmade by moi (a clip-on earring, key charm and embellished paperclip). Hair: feather headband from a street fair, $2.50.

There you have it! If you don't count my shoes, entire outfit: $12.50. Thumbs up for deals!

Found any super cheap fantastic clothing lately?

Enjoy!

Tom, You're Neat.

Have you seen the new Toms? I'm a pretty big Toms fan. Well, Kristen in the summer of 2010 was a pretty big Toms fan. I can't say I have worn my:

Red Bridgeport Linen Classics (which I don't think are sold on their website anymore..sad day) very much yet this year,

(side note: Mine worn through at the toe, so I hand sewed a fun printed gold patch out of upholstery fabric onto it..now they're one of a kind!)

Or my Grey Hass Printed Burlap Toms (also not sold anymore) very much this year.

Both wonderful pairs, and lovely summer shoes! Also, for a great cause. Read about it here.

But...

If I was to get another pair this summer, there are a few I do have my eye (well, both eyes actually) on. What do you think?

Fun Rope Sole! and Kenya Stripe.

Or should I spice up my life with some colour with some Lilac coloured Toms?

I know. You're as overwhelmed with the envy as I am. Perhaps Kristen of summer 2011 is a pretty big Toms fan after all..Help me decide!

Also, Starbucks employed me. It's pretty neat!

I have some garage sale-ing finds to share with you! Oh, just you wait!

Enjoy!
