Happy thanksgiving! to all my Canadian friends. And my American ones too, though you get to celebrate in a few weeks! I have been given so much, and am so glad I have so much to give back. God is gracious, and I am glad i have such wonderful family to spend my weekend with!
One thing I'm thankful for is shoes! I know there are a lot of people in the world that don't even have one pair of shoes to call their own, and I have MANY shoes. I bought a couple pairs of Toms last year, and they lasted me the year, but I kind of wanted to prolong their life. You can see my last patch-job here.
They're looking pretty sad, hey? Yuck.
So, I cut up some burlap (measuring very accurately by holding it up and looking to see if it fit), and seam-ripped the 'Toms' badge off the back of my shoes, and re-sewed it onto the burlap. I then just did a finishing stitch around the edge.
Alright, now this is the step that any seamstresses out there will gasp at. To attach the burlap...I used...hot glue. I know, I know, probably not the best option. But, the shoes were going in the garbage if they weren't fixed! For the front patch, I basically just glued as I went. Improv re-do!
And there we go! Wear-able Toms yet again! If you have any questions, comment or email me!
A nice craft project to do at home on my thanksgiving break. I'm back at school now, and though I caught up on a lot of sleep, I still feel so tired! I was too used to minimal hours of sleep that I couldn't handle a good night's sleep! I spent the rest of my weekend with family, eating lots of turkey, and watching lots of Project Runway. Such a great show! Don't tell me what's currently, as I was catching up online, and haven't quite got up to speed yet!
What are you thankful for? Be it a thanksgiving weekend for you or not.
Enjoy!
